Can't make next Tuesday. However, I am in Peterborough this weekend for a soccer tournament, and plan to sneak away for a quick paddle at Burleigh.

I have never been there. Google maps indicates up Hwy 28. Looks like the falls run under Hwy 28 just before reaching Lock 28.

Where is the put in?
Where can I park?
Any sensitive neighbours (cottagers) or officials?
Any significant hazards, especially for a 9 and 12 year old?

many thanks,
Seamus

Park at bottom of falls (Rd across from Lovesick Campground I think it is called Burleigh Rd.) it is on the south side of the bridge. There is a small parking lot at bottom of rapids. From there you can walk up and scout rapids.

Fall on river right (easy to see and scout) are pretty good to go anywhere, water pushes right so be ready if you get pused into the wall. Be aware of the river left channel, won;t be able to see it from the shore it is on the opposite side of the large island. Scout on the island if you want to see that rapid, shallow and rocky at this level. Dam is good to go if there is enough water and you scout it. You can put in anywhere above the bridge, campground is pretty good if you walk up river right side. If you want to run dam River left there is a road past the grey house (our house) that takes you up to dam.

Me and Sara will definitely be attending this Fun Run, however, I am faced with the issue of having no paddle. If anybody has a spare that I could use that would be awesome. Since I'm now going to have to buy one anyway, I would love to try out some different ones.
